Experience
Professor of Practice John D. Evans joined IBSS in June 2013. John has both a business and academic background. Before moving into academia, John spent 24 years in the international capital markets, first in Toronto, then briefly New York before moving to London in 1991. He covered central banks and institutional investors throughout EMEA in the area of treasury, interest rate and credit risk products. In the later years, and since joining the university, he has developed applied research and analysis related to investment management and fundamental analysis for both equity and debt securities.
His teaching career started part-time in the early 1990s teaching on the CFA review program for the CFA Society of the UK, while he was still working in the financial markets. In June of 2004, he moved to full time teaching and started an MSc Investment Management at the University of Reading and had it approved as one of the first CFA Program Partner programmes in the UK. He remained Program Director for the MSc IM until he left in December 2012. In January 2006, he took over responsibility for the running of the financial markets executive education, which was a joint venture with the International Capital Markets Association. Under his leadership, this expanded from three courses being run in Europe to over 30 courses being run throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
